James was born in 1976 and grew up in Reading and Devon. He spent a year at Plymouth College of Art and Design and then studied Fine Art (Painting), at Chelsea College of Art and Design. From 2003 until 2008 he lived and worked in Spain gaining inspiration from the working methods, practices and light not dissimilar to that found in West Cornwall. He has exhibited in London, Devon, Spain and most recently West Cornwall where he lives.
